Interior Design Copyright
As an initial matter the copyrightable material are the photographs of the designs versus the design themselves so the designer needs to ensure on the front end that she has a written agreement with the photographer that conveys the intellectual property rights in the photographs of her designs to her so that she has a legally sound basis to pursue any infringers.
Interior design copyright. According to article 2 of the belgian copyright act of june 30 1994 the author of a copyrighted work can oppose any modification or alteration of his work. In the specific case the architect performed interior design work protected under the copyright law either as architectural design if they required a specific project work or under the general protection of article 2 of the copyright law. The bottom line is that the current federal copyright law does not give as much legal protections for interior design works as it does for architecture works.
We take copyright violation very seriously and will vigorously protect the rights of legal copyright owners. The designer was not informed of the changes and claimed they infringed his copyright especially his moral rights in respect of his work. Further the court provides the following clarifications.
Copyright law is not the most interesting issue for anyone much less interior designers. Like any piece of art or any creative product an interior designer s work should be protected as intellectual property ideas that belong solely to them and are non transferrable.
